Linear / OSCO Gate Repair — Dallas-Fort Worth

Linear and OSCO commercial gate operators power apartment complexes and HOA communities across DFW. When they fail, we respond fast — same-day service, priority commercial dispatch.

Linear Powers More DFW Commercial Gates Than Any Other Brand — We Know Why

Linear’s OSCO Controls division produces the commercial gate operator of choice across DFW’s multi-family residential and commercial property market. The OSCO 9100, Linear Delta 3, and LDO-series operators are found at apartment communities, office park entries, storage facilities, and gated subdivisions throughout the Metroplex. Linear also manufactures telephone entry systems and vehicle loop detector modules that integrate with these operators — making the full access system a Linear ecosystem in many DFW properties.

When a Linear/OSCO system fails, the technician who arrives needs to understand not just the gate operator but the full system — entry panel, loop detectors, access inputs, and operator control board. Our technicians service the complete Linear ecosystem and can diagnose whether a malfunction originates in the operator, the entry system, or the vehicle detection wiring without sending you in circles.

Linear System Problems We Fix

Control Board Failure

Linear boards in outdoor commercial enclosures are vulnerable to DFW power spikes. We stock common Linear boards and replace same-day when available.

Loop Detector Not Working

Vehicle loop not detecting cars, or detector stuck in “presence” mode holding the gate open. Loop wire continuity test, sensitivity recalibration, or detector board replacement.

📞
Telephone Entry Failure

Linear entry panels not calling residents, relay not releasing gate, or directory programming lost. Full Linear access system diagnosis and programming.

🔈
Limit & Travel Issues

Linear gates not completing full open or close, or reversing prematurely. Limit adjustment, obstruction sensor testing, and switch replacement.

The Loop Detector — Linear’s Most Misdiagnosed Component A vehicle loop detector stuck in “presence” mode — sensing a vehicle that isn’t there — keeps the gate from closing as a safety measure. This gets misdiagnosed as a board or limit fault constantly. The test is simple: disconnect the loop detector input on the control board. If the gate then closes, the detector (or its inductive loop wire) is the culprit. We run this test in the first five minutes on every Linear gate that won’t close.

When the Gate, Entry Panel, and Loop Detector Are All Linear

Many DFW properties run a complete Linear system. Here’s how the pieces connect — and where failures hide.

📶 Telephone Entry

Linear’s entry panels integrate directly with the gate operator via relay output. When the entry system fails, the gate may still open manually but residents lose call-in access. We diagnose and repair both sides of the relay connection.

☁ Vehicle Loop Detectors

Linear loop detectors handle exit detection (gate opens for departing vehicles) and safety presence (gate won’t close on a vehicle). A broken loop wire in the pavement affects both functions and mimics other failures on the control board.

⚡ Gate Operator Control Board

The operator board processes signals from the entry panel, loop detectors, keypads, and remotes. When it fails, no input triggers the gate. We confirm board failure before replacement — sometimes what looks like a board fault is actually a shorted input wire.

🔐 Access Inputs (Keypad, Cards)

Keypads and card readers wired to the Linear operator communicate via dry contact relay. Wiring termination failures — corroded terminals, loose connectors — are common at the operator end and are a fast fix when caught.

Linear / OSCO Gate Repair FAQs

On Linear/OSCO commercial gates, a gate that opens normally but won’t close is almost always one of three causes: (1) The vehicle loop detector is stuck in “presence” mode, holding the gate open for safety. (2) The close-direction limit switch has failed or drifted. (3) The close-command relay on the control board has failed. We isolate the loop detector first because it’s the most common cause and the fastest to confirm. Total diagnosis time is usually under 15 minutes.
Yes — Linear/OSCO operators have adjustable parameters for open/close speed, force settings (how hard the motor pushes), obstruction sensitivity, and loop detector input behavior. We adjust these on-site using the operator’s DIP switch or programming interface. This is commonly needed after a board replacement or when a community gets a heavier gate installed.
Sometimes. If the break is at the lead-in wire connection near the surface — which is the most common failure point — we can access it without cutting concrete. If the loop wire itself is severed inside the saw cut in the pavement, the loop needs to be re-cut and a new wire installed. We probe the wire continuity first to localize the break before recommending any concrete work.
Linear OSCO commercial operators are built for high-cycle use and typically run 12–18 years with proper maintenance. The electronics — specifically control board capacitors — usually need attention at the 8–10 year mark. The mechanical components (motor, gearbox, drive chain) generally outlast the electronics significantly. A board replacement at year 10 on an otherwise-sound OSCO operator is a smart investment that extends service life 5–8 more years.
